Putin proposes visa-free regime between Russia, US
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed on Thursday introducing a visa-free regime between Russia and the U.S.
At a meeting with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, Putin said that Russia and the E.U. were in talks on switching to a visa-free regime, while the U.S. abolished visas with European nations long ago.
“If Russia and the U.S. agree to introduce a visa-free regime before we do it with the E.U., it could be a historical step in the development of Russia–U.S. relationships,” he said.
Putin expects that introducing a visa-free regime could “create an absolutely new moral atmosphere between Russia and the U.S.”
Biden offered his support for the proposal saying that it was a good idea. |
