[28.04.2005] In accordance with the European Union accession agreement, two nuclear reactors in Jaslovske Bohunice are to be decomissioned by the end of 2006 and 2008. During his visit in Brussels, Slovak Economy Mister Pavol Rusko failed to persuade European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs to agree with plan for simultaneous decommissioning of the plant's two reactors in 2008. Slovakia will now focus on obtaining more financial assistance from Brussels for the decommissioning. According to the analysts of Slovenské Elektrárne, the operator of nuclear plants in Jaslovske Bohunice, the estimated costs of decomission works will be as high as ?1.3 billion. |
