AFK Sistema said Wednesday that it was still looking to enter the Indian telecoms market after a deal to buy into mobile operator Aircel hit delays.
Vladimir Lagutin, head of Sistema's telecoms arm, told Vedomosti that a tentative $450 million deal signed in February to buy a large stake in Aircel Televentures was being held up because of financing problems.
Lagutin said a plan to use debts owed by India to Russia to help fund the purchase had been stalled by the government in New Delhi. (Reuters)
