The heads of leading Russian electronics chains have called Panasonic's business in Russia unfair and have announced plans to remove Panasonic products from the assortment of goods they offer.

A joint statement on this issue, which was distributed in Moscow on Wednesday, was signed by Euroset (RTS: TDEV) chairman of the board Yevgeny Chichvarkin, Svyaznoi Group president Maxim Nogotkov, Eldorado president Igor Yakovlev, M.Video president Alexander Zaionts, Technosila president Vyacheslav Zaitsev and Mir general director Yevgeny Kabanov.

The decision to remove Panasonic products from Russian store shelves "was caused by the unfair, and at times illegal, operation of Panasonic's business on Russian territory," the statement says, noting that market players have pointed out the company's unacceptable actions in written form on several occasions.
